Goodbye Guilt

  • The problem ISN’T your love of carbs.
  • The problem ISN’T your appetite.
  • The problem ISN’T your willpower.
  • The REAL problem is toxic DIET CULTURE.
  • DIET CULTURE tells us a “healthy” body only looks a certain way.
  • DIET CULTURE implies that if you just eat “properly” you’ll look and feel the way you want to.
  • DIET CULTURE teaches you to feel shame when you eat “bad” foods.
  • The truth is, there’s no good or bad foods and there is nothing wrong with indulging your hunger.
  • You’re not weak for wanting chocolate cake after dinner, or popcorn during the movie.
  • Mastering Mindful Eating helps you recognize Diet Culture as our common enemy. Together, we will make food fun again.

How It Works

In Mastering Mindful Eating, I break it down into three digestible (pun intended) lessons. Each lesson comes with a video explaining the program and examples. The accompanying workbook means you can take the program at your own pace in a style that works for you.

Lesson #1

- Worry free nutritional guide, so you don’t get trapped in the BS that’s out there.

- A simple exercise you can do ANYWHERE to take the shame out of eating.

- A toolkit of quick, easy exercises for your “weak” moments.

Lesson #2

- A step by step guide on how to start a dialogue with your body. It’s important to know when to listen to what your body is telling you, and when you should ignore it.

- Questions to ask yourself around your food cravings so you can be prepared, whether you’re the one who actually prepared the meal, or not.

- Examples of other people’s questions and challenges. You’re never as alone as you feel.

Lesson #3

- Tips for identifying and avoiding the traps you’ve been caught in time after time.

- Mindfulness techniques to ease your anxiety when the negative thoughts get the best of you I’ve been there myself.

I get it.

You and food have had a tumultuous relationship thus far. You feel threatened by it, and therefore limit its power over you by restriction. The result, when you lose your will to fight, means you cave in to every food that has ever made you feel weak. A binge ensues. The food has won. In Mastering Mindful Eating, you’ll learn how to walk away from the fight with dignity. And change your relationship with food FOREVER.

I’m Debbie Saroufim, body acceptance coach. It took me most of my adult life to be able to say I love my body. In fact, I spent most of my life hating my body and obsessing over what a “good body” looked like.

From a young age, I was terrified of having a bad body. My mother, with the best intentions - but a very specific idea of what a good body is, wanted so badly for me to be happy with my body that she put me on a diet - when I was in the first grade. At the age of 6, I was taught to fear food.

Fear of food can evolve in many ways. Mine evolved into an eating disorder. Thankfully, I got help early on, and got rid of my eating disorder behaviours. But I didn’t magically start loving my body. I realized that hating your body isn’t size discriminatory. And I learned that there are simple tools I can use to feel more confident in my food choices, and ultimately more at peace with myself. Now I teach other women the simple tools that saved my relationship with my body. They’re tools you can use ANYWHERE, and in just minutes to rid yourself of the guilt your food choices provoke.

Does making peace with food just mean being ok with getting fat?

The short answer is no. It’s a common diet culture myth that eating what you want will make you fat. You know plenty of people who eat foods that scare you, and are absolutely fine. The fear you have around these foods changes your behaviour with them. We'll simply be exploring how you feel around the foods.

This workshop was exactly what I needed! It was SO helpful that I signed up for a second time to reinforce what I learned the first round! Now I'm buying the workshop so I can rework the lessons whenever I need a refresher.

Debbie's Mastering Mindful Eating workshop went BEYOND my expectations. It brought me to a healthier place in regards to how I view what I eat, how I eat, and why. And it has assisted me in building healthier habits. Debbie takes a difficult subject and guides you through it with ease. Her leadership, compassion and empathy took me on a journey that shifted my perspective and gave me the tools to explore my relationship with food on my own, anywhere!

One of the hardest things about becoming a more mindful eater is confronting the various thoughts and feelings that arise when eating particular foods or meals. The Mindful Eating Workshop helped me to acknowledge those thoughts, sit with them & allow myself to be uncomfortable. What Debbie has created within the workshop is a sense of trust, and a completely non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your most difficult thoughts and feelings, while surrounded by kind and like-minded individuals who validate your struggles and remind you that you’re not alone.

Therapists benefit from having Debbie as a referral. She is my go-to choice for intuitive eating workshops and coaching. Debbie is a wonderful resource for a mental health clinician who would benefit from a collaborative approach to dismantling diet culture and improving body positivity in their clients.

"I really enjoyed this class! It was helpful and insightful to learn more about my connections to food and body image in a fun and judgment free environment. Highly recommend!"
